Come on in to your local library this November. We’ll have extended children’s programming starting at 1 PM during Thanksgiving break, including Perler Beads! Please note that we are closed for three days this month, on November 11th, Veteran’s day, and November 28th and 29th, in observation of Thanksgiving.

October Calendar
Who is ready for Halloween? We are here at the Kingman Public Library!
We have some new programs starting this month, and some changes to our usual times.
Up first, LEGO Club! Come and enjoy building with friends for fun. You can also participate in our monthly challenges. In October, you’ll be tasked with building a house. Feel free to make it spooky if you’d like!
Tuesdays @ 10 will now be playtime intended for little ones aged 0-3 and their parents. A short story will be read and coloring pages will be available. Older siblings are always welcome to join as well.
Wednesdays will now be Game Day after school. Come and enjoy Board Games, Video Games, or Jumbo Cards. Mrs. Schulte is always happy to teach you how to play chess.
Fridays @ 10 will be Moving and Grooving story time @ the Kingman Public Library. Come and join us for songs, rhymes, and a story. We’ll also make a craft at the end! Activities are geared for ages 3 to 5, but older and younger children are always invited to join. Our first story time in October will feature Apples!
We hope to see you at our programs!
September Contests
We’re gearing up for September here at Kingman Public Library! It’s Library Card Sign-Up Month. September also holds Banned Books Week from the 22nd to the 28th.
To celebrate, the Library will be holding a contest this month to guess a banned classic novel in a jar. There will be two jars, one upstairs for an adult novel and one downstairs for teen readers. Patrons aged 18+ can enter the contest for the adult novel. Patrons aged 13 to 18 can enter to guess the teen novel.
For entry into the contest, simply sign up for a Library card during the month of September. Current library patrons who already have a card can also present it for an entry into the contest. At the end of the month, one winner for each novel will be chosen from all of the correct guesses and will receive a prize!
Stop in and get signed up for a Library card today!
We’re also starting a new monthly Lego Contest for all patrons age 0 to 18.
To enter, simply stop by the library while the youth services area is open between the first and the 20th of each month. Using the libraries Lego collection, build the best creation that you can that fits the theme of the month . We’ll help you title your creation and display it nearby our Blue reader section. Then, starting on the 21st of each month, patrons can begin voting for the Lego creation they think best fits the theme. Cast your vote at the youth services desk. At the end of the month, votes will be tallied. The winning creation will be posted to our Facebook page and will be stored in our trophy case downstairs.
Our first monthly theme will be CARS! Happy building, happy reading, and we hope to see you in the library soon.
Thanks,
Kayla and Christie
Meet our new Youth Services Librarian
Please help us welcome our new Youth Services Librarian, Michaela Schulte! She’s very excited to meet all of you. If you want to get to know her better, strike up a conversation about her kids, Nolan and Sebastian, or her favorite stories, such as the Chronicles of Narnia. You might also be able to get her talking about the Nintendo Games she likes to play with her two kids. They are currently on a slow journey through Hyrule in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
